Braden is over for a visit today...she is certainly getting taller...
It's sad that in order to get ANY light in the house besides a flash, you have to stand outside IN THE RAIN and cold while the subject stands in the doorway. UGH. I'm SO ready for this cold, wet, and very dreary winter to be over.
Because there aren't enough hours in the day to spend with her Because sometimes there are too many... Because the sky is gray when I'd rather it be blue Because it's warmer today than it was yesterday Because Brandon didn't want me at his Ultimate Frisbee game and I was prepared to go... Because she's beautiful and...crazy...and... Because she's a goofball Because the world needs one more picture of her Why? Because she asked me to take it!
Brandon got candles....erhhhmmmm....a candle. He didn't want a bunch of candles (which was good considering I didn't get any!)but still, being the pyromaniac he tends to be if left unguarded, he wanted a BIG candle he found in the drawer. A little rigging later (good impromptu on my part, if I should say so myself, lol!) and voila...a birthday candle fit for any 14 year old who requests Mountain Dew BUNDT cakes for his birthdays! :) Notice who lit it? Yep...the birthday boy himself, who proceeded to laugh so incredibly hard at our HORRIBLE Happy Birthday rendition (mostly Nathan's horrible singing) that I only got semi-focused shots of him during the obligatory singing session.
That's okay...I got enough shots of the night (unlike last year's no CF card blunder...which btw, will NEVER happen again because I've set the camera to NOT shoot without the CF card in!) to make a great scrapbook page.
With current situations, I didn't plan on getting a thing for Valentine's day and was okay with that. Really. When Thomas came home with a gift, I must say that my first reaction was to cry and be upset with him. I like to give gifts as well as receive, and to me, it simply wasn't fair for him to get me something without me having the opportunity as well.
Opening the card and reading it took all that away and really made me cry. He bought us both journals for us to write to each other throughout the next year (until next Valentine's). You know, he surprises me when he does stuff like this because it's just NOT in Thomas' nature to be romantic, but when he is, he just simply does it well.
This is a good thing for us. And I've enjoyed my little journal and findiing time in my day to jot down something for him to read. It's neat knowing that he'll not read this until a year down the road...and I try to record things that are pertinent. I wouldn't mind if this becomes a yearly Valentine's tradition and will definitely make certain to put some thought into a very special journal for him next year...
We supported the youth group's fund-raiser program by purchasing these balloons. Add Mom and Dad's large bouquets to us and you have a tangled mess (made by the kids) by the time we got home...so...unfortunately, no one can enjoy them singularly...they have to stay together for now...but they DO look pretty and festive for the Valentine celebration, huh?
Finished up the VERY simple Valentine's treats that Kaitlyn and Zachary will give this year. Cheap $1 Target pencils (10 for $1) topped with printed greetings. I saw the 'idea' in Family Fun...which is a great magazine for fun, cute, cheap family craft ideas.
So much for a clean desk - this layout has sat on my desk for a few days now with me adding stuff here and there...no where near finished and that is SO not like me. I usually just grab stuff, print a photo, slap it all down, and then call it done...not sure what the deal is lately.
Kaitlyn and Zachary decided that yesterday's homework needed to be done outside. What you do NOT see pictured is the fan that apparently was needed to circulate the 72 degree weather, because...that's a heat wave, don't ya know? (oh, and the dogs are scrambling around the feet as well)
We have the sweetest lady at church that make cupcakes for the Sunday school classes whenever she just either wants to, but especially when there's an upcoming holiday to celebrate. My kids LOVE it when she brings them in because they're always so good. And...for Valentine's day, they were oh so sweet topped with the little conversation hearts. Thanks so much!
Welcoming in the month of 'love' and since I have a ton of these little hearts scattered here and there. (found them at a unique home decor/gift shop when we were building the house and picked up about 8 of them in several different colors to put into a bowl. They've since found homes at various times of the seasons here and there around the house.) Thomas and I watched Fireproof on Friday night and I must say - I think I need to find the book and read about the Love Dares...they were good...I think everyone's marriage needs that. Gonna go spend my BOM gift card I got for Christmas from my lovely friend Tammy if they have it!
